I've always had some wanderlust coursing through my veins,
I got it from my dad, I think he had it bad, but I ain't here to blame,
It's hard to picture how our everyday'd change,
Hell, it ain't for nothing, I've gotten so accustomed to this gridded place.

But I thought it for the best, and not to minimize what I'd surely miss,
But the calling never left, so we'll find what that calling is,
And if it's a mistake, at least it's not one of regret,
Still, my heart belongs to Chicago as we go west.

I settled on the thought that it'd be nice to stay,
A home just north of Irving, it'd certainly be worth it for some space away,
And we raise two little kids with our geriatric dog in a cicada dream,
Buzzing through the silence, remembering the times I couldn't stand the heat.

Still, I thought it for the best, and not to minimize what I'd surely miss,
But the calling never left, so we'll find what that calling is,
And if it's a mistake, at least it's not one of regret,
